Brooklyn Drive

This project came about as a result of the client’s desire to build their very own ‘grand design’ in a desirable location in Cheshire. Purchasing a building plot in this neighbourhood would have proved costly. The client opted instead to purchase an existing bungalow which was in a very poor state of repair.

The brief called for a number of interventions to gain the client extra space; converting the loft into a first floor accommodating additional bedrooms and a generous bathroom, constructing a two storey extension at the rear of the property which would accommodate a large open plan dining room and kitchen at ground floor level and a large master bedroom and en-suite at first floor level. Finally, a small infill extension behind the existing garage would be used to enlarge the kitchen and make the building footprint more regular.

The finished building is a dramatic departure from the original house. The white render together with the anthracite window frames and detailed areas accented in horizontal cedar boarding provide the finished home with a fresh contemporary appearance. Finally, the client opted to construct a new balcony at the rear of the property to capitalise on the views over the adjacent countryside.
