This attractive two storey side extension to a traditional weaver’s cottage in the upper Calder Valley in Pennine Yorkshire. This smart extension to the side of the client’s existing cottage was required by the client to replace an existing single storey extension and conservatory.

The new two storey extension would accommodate a double height living space. The double height space is overlooked by an internal balcony serving a new bedroom at first floor level which sits over the existing study and an extended WC and cloakroom.

The double height space is enclosed by a two-storey hybridised aluminium and timber glass curtain wall system. This contrasts nicely with the new exterior wall to the other half of the extension which is constructed in reclaimed local stone to match that of the existing cottage.

The project was procured using a PPC 2000 partnering contract.
